Check with your State Department of Education in the state where you live for state scholarships and requirements. In the Resources section in the back of the Path to Scholarships® High School Edition and College Edition workbooks there is a listing of state scholarship agencies and their telephone numbers.
The Directory of State Scholarship Agencies provides information on grants, scholarships, and other financial aid for college students from the state, including federally-supported state programs such as Byrd scholarships and LEAP (Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership) grants.
Many states have a variety of state scholarships based on may different requirements and criteria. The sooner students know what the requirements are for these state scholarships, the sooner they can plan and prepare ahead, making sure they meet the requirements to qualify!
